The questions I ask a new client as a therapist

When you first arrive at our center, I always take a moment to truly meet you and listen to you. The initial consultation goes far beyond simply discussing your pain or the area to be treated. My goal is to understand you as a whole, because health is never limited to a single symptom.
After 14 years of accompanying hundreds of people, I know that the pain or tension you feel is almost never isolated: it often speaks of a balance to be reharmonized on several dimensions.
That's why I like to rely on the health triad popularized by Dr. Charles Héroux (chiropractor and trainer in applied kinesiology): three interconnected pillars that support our balance. Thank you to Dr. Héroux for this excellent framework!
Your mental and emotional well-being: How are you experiencing stress right now? What's weighing you down, preventing you from truly relaxing? Are there recurring sources of emotional tension (work, family, disrupted sleep, etc.)? The mind and emotions greatly influence physical tension.
Your daily physical condition : What are your lifestyle habits? How do you move on a daily basis? Diet, sleep, physical activity, work… These are the habits that nourish (or deplete) your energy and your recovery capacity.
Your body structure: How is your posture at rest and in motion? Are there any imbalances that you feel or that are visible (misaligned pelvis, rounded shoulders, head jutting forward…)? A misaligned structure limits the free flow of vital energy and creates compensations, points of tension that often end up causing problems.
As the ancient saying goes: "A sound mind in a sound body" .
And I would add, with a touch of humor and truth that I love:
"If you want things to change in your life, you have to make changes in your life!" 😉
That's where our teamwork comes in!
As therapists (osteopathy, massage therapy, Tuina, craniosacral therapy, orthotherapy…), we mainly work on the structural pillar.
We realign, release restrictions, untie fascia, work on trigger points… to restore fluidity, mobility and comfort.
But the real gift is when you leave with a better understanding of yourself and a few simple tools to integrate into your daily life. That's often when the changes become lasting and profound.
So… what would be the first small thing you would want to change to feel even more aligned in your body and mind?
I look forward to discussing this further with you in person during your first personal meeting. 💛
See you very soon!
